Developing a Raw Food Diet Plan

Now that you know all about the goals a of a raw food diet and the key components to a raw food diet, it’s now time to develop your raw food diet plan.

First you need to determine your raw food diet level.  In her book, The Raw Food Detox Diet, Natalia Rose introduces the Raw Food Transition Tool.  Answering the questions in this tool will help you understand how aggressive you can be in your transition to a raw food lifestyle.

If you are like me, and most other, you’ve been eating cooked, over-processed foods your whole life and changing over to a total raw diet would be a challenge.  It is also dangerous!  Eating raw is just one component to a lifestyle overhaul that will lead to a healthier, longer life.  My goal was to introduce raw foods slowly, replacing my fattening breakfast of bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwiches with two bows of raw, cut up fruit.

My plan was to start with breakfast and then introduce more raw choices throughout my diet, slowly and steadily transitioning to mostly raw.

At the beginner level you should do these 5 things:

  • Reduce your dairy intake
  • Eat >50% raw foods
  • Eliminate all “white” foods -> white potatoes, white flour, white rice, and white sugar
  • Eat only fruit until lunch

Remember that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.  Write down your goal and stick to them.  Reward yourself for following your plan for a week, month, and 6 months.  You’ll do much better this way!

Why Buy Raw Food Cookbooks?

Why should you consider buying raw food cookbooks? I mean, it is not like you really have to cook anything in a raw food diet anyway. Too many people seem to think that just because you aren’t going to cook something that your meals have to be boring. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

A raw food diet is more than just eating a carrot and an apple for lunch. In fact there are many different recipes that can be made that look and taste fantastic. Best of all the meals are 100% raw and actually healthy for you.

There is a movement going on with more and more people turning towards a raw food diet. They are able to help their body heal from chronic conditions such as obesity and other ailments. They no longer have to worry about preservatives or other processed junk and chemicals found in so many other foods. Also, consider the time you get to save not worrying about what you need to cook.

Picking up a book of raw food recipes will give you a lot of options to keep you from becoming bored in your raw food diet. Some of these fun recipes will give you the options of mixing, blending, whipping or dehydrating your foods.

In fact, you can even make a raw food pizza or a raw food version of chips and dip. The possibilities are endless!

How about a creamy avocado soup? Or maybe some raw chocolate? All you need in your kitchen is a nice blender, a food processor and maybe a dehydrator. No need for an oven ever again.

If you are on a raw food diet or if you plan to try one out then raw food cookbooks are a necessity for your kitchen. Just because you are raw does not mean you cannot be imaginative and enjoy preparing your dishes.

You can pick up raw food recipe books pretty much anywhere including bookstores or just look to the right an order online.

What You Should Know About Raw Food Health

The raw food health philosophy started back with natural hygiene. The whole premise is to let our bodies heal themselves to stay healthy, we need to keep the inside of our bodies clean.

Raw food health is simple living because it does not require munch time or money. You don’t need to cook anything and you don’t need to buy many complicated dishes.

Of course you save on utilities as well because you are not using your oven or microwave. Here are some thoughts on what is so good about raw foods and their relation to the health of the human mind and body.

When you eat your food raw, it allows you to eat as nature intended.  Raw fruits and vegetables include the natural enzymes we need to bread them down and easily digest them.  In fact, it is much better if you seek out and buy organic fruits and vegetables as opposed to the normal ones at the grocery store. This is the foundation of your diet, which also builds the foundation of your body.

Using raw foods has allowed many people to stop and in most cases reverse illnesses that had previously come upon them. Did you know that one out of every four people alive are going to get cancer?

Processed foods these days are really getting that bad. We need to change out diets and go back to nature in order to preserve our lives and the lives of our children.

Going on a raw food diet is also great for losing weight. There is so much obesity these days and if we all went to a vegan raw food diet we could virtually eliminate this plague on society. Stay away from processed foods and you will find your excess weight start to slip away.

Raw food plans should be entered into with a full knowledge of the current state of your health. If possible, develop the plan with a physician, traditional or homeopathic.

You want to make sure your body gets what it needs, while eliminating substances that are not doing you any good. Raw food health is a life changing event.

It transforms your body, your mind and your spirit. Give it a try.
